There are nine monthly competitions from September through May of each Club season in three categories: Slides; Prints, and Projected Digital Images. Competitions start promptly at 6:30 PM. Entries for competitions must be submitted by 6:15 PM the same evening.
All members are eligible to compete if their dues are paid. Dues must be paid by the first competition of the season (early in September). New members are eligible to compete in the month in which they join the Club and pay their pro-rated dues.
- In two categories: slides and prints, there are two groups: Intermediate and Honors.
- Slides can be both color and monochrone. (see About MMCC, Slides).
- Prints can be made in a dark room, in a computer, or by a commercial printer. They can also be color or monochrome.
- Digital images not printed can be entered for projecting in a separate category.
- Detaled instructions on preparing entries are in our MMCC Member Kit which is available online in PDF format. You need a free Adobe Reader to read and print it.
Each month from September through May, a member may enter in each category two of her or his photographs. An entry that scored 8 or 9 is not eligible for competition in MMCC again. One that scored 7 or lower may be re-entered in competition the same season or in the following season. After the second entry, it is ineligible for further Club competition. An entry that is essentially the same as any previous entry by the maker shall not be eligible; each contestant is expected to make a responsible determination as to the eligibility of his/her entries. For example, a color print may not be re-submitted as a monochrome print. A color slide may not be re-submitted as a commercially processed color print unless as a slide it scored 7 or lower. (See also Entries for Interclub Competitions below.)
Scoring is from 5 to 9 points. A score of 9 represents an Award, a score of 8 represents an Honorable Mention. (see MMCC Accumulative Scores)
There are no longer any makeups. At the end of a club year, an average of all scores will determine a competitor's ranking within a category.
